Club News (04/29/08)

Congratulations BSCBC
Big Sandy Creek Bass Club wins the 2008 Bass Club World Championship Central Region on Lake Amistad.  As expected, the team had a good shot at winning the event and did so with flying colors.  The team practiced for the event from Saturday to Wednesday.  The better water was confirmed, new water was checked out and several areas were eliminated.

According to Jon Stewart - BASS Tournament Director - this was the very first "true team" event where each team was paired with a member from their own team - unlike events in the past where teams were paired with boaters and non-boaters from other states or teams.

BSCBC finished day 1 only 6 ounces out of first place (Held by the Angelo Federation Bass Club) - keeping them in contention for the grand prize and leading the third place team (Brush Country Bassmasters) by 7 lbs 3 oz.

The Purolater Big Bass of the event was caught on day 1 by Jimmy Johnson (Brush Country Bassmasters) and weighed 11 lbs 5 oz.

All of the BSCBC team members caught quality fish totaling 115 lbs 15 oz. for the two-day event.  The second place team was 18 lbs 4 oz behind.  Eight teams from this event will move on the the Bass Club World Championship in October on a lake that has yet to be announced.

Texas rigged worms and Carolina rigs accounted for the majority of the bass caught with a few being caught on Brush-Hogs.  The weather cooperated on tournament days - although the pre-fish days were a true test of weather stamina with the wind getting up there on several occasions.

Rubbing Elbows with the Big Dawgs
BSCBC member Jimmy Lynn was fortunate to reserve a co-angler spot in the Elite series events on Falcon and Amistad.  Jimmy finished 13th on Falcon and 19th on Amistad.  Some of the big names that Jimmy fished with were Boyd Duckett, Mike Wurm, and Todd Faircloth.
