Big Sandy
Creek Bass Club and The Arc of the Capital Area are happy to announce
that we had another successful year with the Bass Roundup tournament
and the KIDFISH event for the Arc clients. This year, we had 158
entries and paid out $8560.00 in prize money. All sponsors and
participants deserve a pat on the back for enabling BSCBC to
contribute $8,100.00+ to The Arc of the Capital Area.
We were blessed with a
beautiful day that was enjoyed by all who attended this event. The
day started with the temperature in the mid 50’s, cloud cover, and a
manageable North wind. Not much changed as the day progressed and the
temperature topped out in the 60’s. All who attended enjoyed plenty
of food, drinks, and entertainment by pro bass fisherman Jimmy
Houston.
Brian
Perkins takes the honors this year with his 7.54 big bass weighed in
during the second hour of the tournament. In addition to Brian’s
winnings, he will also receive a free replica from Joe’s Custom Fish
Mounts.
Jimmy
Houston continues to be a huge draw for the fishermen, but really
shows his big heart while working with the Arc clients at the KIDFISH
tank. Thanks to the many volunteers, Arnold Oil, and TPWD for making
the KIDFISH a success. The sponsors and volunteers worked with 135
kids in 4 hours. The KIDFISH event continues to be a great avenue for
the Arc to provide their clients with a way to enjoy the sport of
fishing and to some that once in a lifetime experience.
All of this
would not be possible with out the continued support of our sponsors.
We would like to thank Arnold Oil, A-Line Auto Parts, and AC Delco for
arranging the appearance of Jimmy Houston and sponsoring the KIDFISH
event. TPWD also sponsored the KIDFISH event by supplying the
catfish. Joe’s Custom Fish Mounts for supplying the free replica to
the tournament winner. The hot food and cold drinks were provided by
HEB, Brown Distributing, and Oak Farms Dairy. Our major sponsors for
the hourly and overall payouts include Academy, Trek, Sportsman’s
Warehouse, Allied Sales, Rush Truck Center, Capitol Bearing Service,
Pro’s Choice Lures, Bedford Plumbing, GW Irrigation, Aus-Tex PCS,
Hudgins Environmental, Parks Engine Service, Ramco Construction Tools,
Capital Air, and Austin Drive Train. And of course, our participants
who continue make this tournament a success. We hope to see everyone
again next year for the 2006 Bass Roundup.
