The day after a weak cold front made for tough fishing
conditions. The tournament started with the air temp in the mid 70's,
water temp at 85, light wind from the NE and partly cloudy skies. The
tournament ended with the air temp in the mid 90's, water temp at 87, wind from
the NNE at 5 - 10MPH, and partly cloudy skies. A total of 19 bass weighed
35.69.
The first place team reported catching their
fish on wacky rigged 4" Senkos and rattle traps fished in the grass around
the island in 10 - 20' of water. All fish were caught before 11:00.
Big bass was caught by ripping a rattle trap out of the grass under the
schooling fish in 18' of water. The second place team reported catching
their fish in 12' - 22' of water along the grass edge using Texas rigged
pumpkin/chartreuse wacky worms with 1/2 oz weights.
