A cool morning bite produced some nice
smallies. The tournament started with the air temp at 66, water temp at
81, a light wind from the ENE and partly cloudy skies. The tournament
ended with the air temp at 91, water temp at 83, a light wind from the ENE and
sunny skies. The lake is about 10 - 15' low with a 2 - 4'
visibility. A total of 37 bass weighed 77.16 on paper.
Several smallies that were over the slot were
brought to the scales to be weighed for big bass, but they were not big
enough. Dean Alexander caught a 21" 4.63 black 20 minutes before
weigh-in to take the big bass honors. The first place team reported
catching all of their fish in Hogg Cove. Most of their fish were caught
before 9AM on flukes, crank baits, and Zara Puppies. They caught 2 more
fish after 1PM on Carolina rigged brush hogs. The 2nd place team also had
a good morning bite on spinner baits. In the afternoon, they caught fish
up the river on spinner baits.
