This lake is on fire right now! I don't think I've ever
seen so many 4 - 6 pound fish weighed in during a club tournament. The
next full moon should bust this lake wide open. Some members reported
finding beds, but most of the fish caught were pre-spawn fish staging and
migrating to the shallows.
Day 1:
The air temp ranged from 59 - 70, water temp at the ramp ranged from 55 -
56, wind was variable from the SE from 0 - 10, and the skies were cloudy with a
light drizzle early then turning to patchy mist and rain throughout the day with
the sun breaking periodically. Total fish for day 1 was 89 bass weighing
286.04.
Day 2:
The air temp ranged from 60 - 73, water temp at the ramp ranged from 56 -
57, wind was variable from the SE from 0 - 10, and the day started with a heavy
fog then turning mostly cloudy. Total fish for day 2 was 88 fish weighing
245.64. Total fish for both days of fishing was 177 bass weighing 531.68.
The 2nd place team reported catching their fish near the ramp
using red rattle traps over the shallow grass. The 1st place team fished
two road beds both days and caught fish on spinner baits and red rattle traps
ripped through the grass. Big bass of the tournament was caught on a
spinner bait. Many of the other teams reported catching their fish shallow
on spinner baits.
