12 teams in one tournament is a
great way to start off the year. The tournament started with the
air temp at 60, water temp at 63, no wind, and partly cloudy skies.
A cold front made its way in around 9am and the wind started to pick
up with gusts up to 30MPH. The tournament ended with the air
temp at 55, water temp at 62, wind from the N at 20 - 25, and partly
cloudy skies. A total of 83 bass weighed 173.61 pounds on paper.
The first place team started the
day in the back of a creek near the South shore ramp. They
missed 2 fish on buzz worms and caught 2 fish on T-rigged 4" Senkos.
After leaving the creek, they picked up 3 more fish on a main lake
point near deep water. After the wind picked up they caught the
rest of their limit drifting the deep edge of grass lines using
C-rigged 4" Senkos. The second place team caught fish early by
slow rolling black spinner baits. They also caught a few on red
traps. They also had success fishing the deeper edge of the
grass with C-rigs and drop shots.
